Can You Lose Weight With Laxatives?

January 25, 2010

You still see a lot of offers for weight loss products based on laxatives online. These offers usually involve a continuity product that cleanses your bowel and promises quick results. Unfortunately, quick results are not the same as lasting results.

The problem is that weight loss by laxatives is never permanent. The reason why is pretty apparent. You lose mainly fluids, not fat. If you want to lose weight, you’re probably looking to lose fat. Losing water is easy, but futile. In a few days you’ll gain it back and you won’t even look better in the period that you’ve lost the water.

If you want to lose weight, focus on losing weight permanently in a natural way. Losing weight with laxatives is focused way too much on the short term.

Fastest Way To Lose Weight In A Week

October 28, 2009

Extra pounds are something that entirely too many of us carry around. Weight gain is caused by a number of different factors, some genetic, some environmental. The fact is that sometimes we feel a need to lose weight quickly. This article describes three plans that can significantly help you lose weight in a week.

Water makes up more than three quarters of our body mass. Therefore, we need a great amount of water to sustain our bodies. Our bodies have evolved to the point where we store up this water in case we need it. The majority of people carry around 5-8 excess pounds of water weight. By just drinking more water, you can lose those extra pounds within a week. If you drink around a gallon of water per day, your body will be fooled into thinking that it no longer has to retain water, and you will be able to eliminate the excess fluid.

The second plan to lose weight in a week is to change the diet to one that is completely comprised of fruits and vegetables. Leafy green salads, steamed vegetables, and fruit will give you large amounts of food with very few calories. You’ll feel full with fewer calories, and you’ll get the added benefit of increased fiber. This will serve to clean the bowel and eliminate a large volume of excess waste that most of us carry around inside us because we do not eat right.

The third plan to lose weight in a week is a combination of the first two methods. If you both drink more water and eat more vegetables, you can lose weight quickly. You can supplement that diet with a reasonable portion of fish and poultry, as well as grains, for carbs and protein that your body needs. For successful weight loss, our bodies need carbohydrates, which convert to fuel that the body burns, added to a reduced caloric intake.

This third plan may prove slightly slower than other weight loss options, but it does include a more balanced approach to changing the diet that makes it possible to continue to receive the needed nutrients to keep the body going while reducing the number of calories one consumes to a level that is lower than the number of calories burned each day.

If you follow a balanced plan, you can lose an average of 8 to 20 pounds in a single week. Assuming of course that your body has that much extra weight to lose. Since that is true for most people, that weight loss target is quite possible.

How To Lose Weight Quick

October 27, 2009

Weight-loss goals are not uncommon amongst most people. Given the number of people who are medically obese in this country today, this comes as no real surprise.  There are times, however, when a person wants to lose weight, not for health reasons, but because he/she wants to fit into a certain outfit for a special occasion.  In such cases, people are pressed for time to lose weight, and look for ideas on how to lose weight in a short time.

A lot of people make big alterations to their diet to lose that weight. One such plan is almost equivalent to starving yourself. If you reduce your daily caloric intake to a very low number, your body will in turn burn calories stored as fat.  However, once you’re done with the diet, it’ll just start back up again, as your body won’t have learned to stop storing in case of further starvation.

Among the starvation level diets that can lead to rapid weight loss, fasting is the most common.  A person skips meals and sometimes only eats one meal per day when they are fasting. This type of dieting is a short-term fix for fast weight loss, but it can seriously damage your general health over the long run.

As an alternative to fasting, people also go on specialized diets.  Some examples are, the Atkins diet, grapefruit diet, Scarsdale diet, etc.

In each of these diets, a specific type of food is either entirely eliminated from the diet, or added to the diet in huge quantities. These foods have properties believed to boost weight loss or gain.   Although they do help you to lose weight quick, these diets are unhealthy in the long run since certain nutrients are excluded from the diet. Even if enough calories are consumed, the lack of certain nutrients constitutes a form of starvation that might take a while to notice, but can be harmful to the body over time.

It takes time, effort and research to learn how to lose weight the correct way. The trick is to know how to manage your weight in a manner that won’t bring about health problems in the future. Before you try any sort of plan to lose weight, consult with your physician in order to weigh the pros and cons of any action that you take.
